Freight forwarding (Špedicija in Slovenian language) derived from the Latin word meaning expedire (dispatched). It’s an activity that deals with the organization of shipping, as the delivery and transport of goods through the country, and all other activities related to transportation.

Freight forwarding or freight forwarder carries freight and is involved in the organization, with the dispatch of the goods to the clients, of carriers and other companies that are related to the transportation of goods both in domestic and international freight traffic. Goal mission is to liberate the whole effort Party and care for the delivery and transport of merchandise. The territorial scope of the transport can be divided to the national (state) and international (international) forwarding. National forwarding, are the shipments and delivery of goods within the borders of the country with the sole use of domestic freight transporters. Freight forwarding (Špedicija in Slovenian language) and foreign – trade activities, especially exports are a very important factor for every company that produces and exports its products or the products of other manufacturers. The main factor of forwarding is the realization of the needs of the freight, for imports and exports.

Export of goods is of great importance for the country, not only for manufacturers and exporters. The exporting country gets foreign inflow of money, which is very important for the economy of every country. In any export and import, freight forwarding business is the key in coordinating traffic basically the transport the goods from the manufacturer to the end user. When forwarding the transport logistics concerns for a smooth transport, and is responsible for the proper choice of means of transport, insurance, and the general care of the goods until they reaches its final destination. This task is neither easy nor without risk. It is necessary for forwarding company to know the legal requirements of his country and the country in which the goods are dispatched, knows clauses, and has good links to transport companies, insurance companies, ship brokers, banks, customs and other participants in the export – import operations.

Freight forwarding includes, transfers, storage of goods, and concern for the safety of the goods, knowledge of trade routes and to facilitate transportation at minimal cost to the user and to maximize the efficiency of transport.
